What is Baptism?
Baptism is a significant act of obedience that demonstrates to others that we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. When Jesus was on earth, He was baptized, and we do the same to follow in His footsteps. When Christians are baptized, they are immersed under the water to represent Jesus' death and burial, and then lifted out of the water to represent His resurrection.
At SCC we teach that water baptism is a public declaration of three Biblical truths; you are a follower of Jesus Christ, that you are beginning a transformed life in Christ, and that you are part of God's family.
